The Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) Visa Subclass 884 allows older
parents who meet the Australian age requirement to stay temporarily
in Australia for up to two years.
This visa is specifically designed for aged parents who are already
in Australia and meet the pension age requirement. It provides a pathway
to permanent residency under the Subclass 864 visa. Applicants must
satisfy the Balance of Family Test and pay a higher contributory visa
application charge in exchange for significantly faster processing
compared to non-contributory parent visas such as Subclass 103.

Subclass 884 visa holders can live, work, and study in Australia during the 2-year validity period. They may also access Medicare subject to eligibility.
If you do not apply for the Subclass 864 visa within the 2-year period, your Subclass 884 visa will expire, and you may need to leave Australia or consider alternative visa options.
